Dakota County Eco-Site

Gopher Resource Corporation operates the Dakota County Eco-Site to provide safe, convenient recycling for the local community. We accept and recycle household hazardous waste, household electronics and general recyclables. Most materials, except tires and electronics, are accepted at no charge. In a community classroom, experts teach the public about the benefits of recycling, composting and other earth-friendly practices.

Materials we accept

Household hazardous waste

We accept materials from private citizens (not businesses) who are residents of Dakota County, Minnesota. Wastes we collect include aerosols, paints, pesticides, fluorescent lights and auto batteries, and more.

Reusable products

Partially used paints and household chemicals that can be safely reused are offered to the public at no charge, including lawn and garden chemicals, paint, paint thinners, varnishes and cleaning products. Reuse puts these products into the hands of people who need them instead of into the waste stream.

Recycling

Materials including cans, glass, plastic bottles, cardboard, newspaper and scrap metal are accepted from both residents and businesses. We also buy aluminum cans. For help with pickup, or to get aluminum redemption prices, call 651-905-4520.

Household electronics

We accept household electronics from private individuals once a week. Business electronics are not accepted. There is a charge, payable by credit card, cash or check. Cellular phones are free. Call 651-905-4520 for the current per pound cost.

Community classroom

We provide an informal classroom setting where school and community groups can learn how to conserve natural resources by recycling, reducing and reusing waste. To see the Eco-Site in action, schedule a free tour by calling 952-891-7021.
