Pew Research Reveals 5 Recycling Insights

New Pew Research Study Shows that Perceptions and Realities of Recycling Vary Widely from Place to Place

Most Americans have access to some sort of recycling program. But a new Pew Research Center survey shows that the rules, practices and community norms around recycling vary considerably by geography. This contributes to dramatically different local recycling levels, from the highest (California at 53 percent) to the lowest (Oklahoma at just 4 percent).

Earth911, a recycling and environmental content aggregator, poured over the survey results and shared the five most interesting things learned about current recycling behavior. There’s good news. Lead batteries are the most highly recycled consumer product at an impressive 99 percent!
