Battery Recycling Could Become America's Sustainability Benchmark for Municipal Solid Waste Management

Americans have made substantial progress in how they recycle or compost waste.  Without question, the "star" of that movement has been lead-acid battery recycling at 99 percent.  Due credit goes to the seamless systems and modern infrastructure of battery recyclers who've made that rate possible.  Moving forward, could those companies inspire the same for paper, aluminum, electronics and more?

Maybe, according to a recent op-ed story distributed by Tribune News Service.  An environmental professor explains how incentives and the EPA's promotion of sustainable materials management could help boost recycling rates.
